Where brides get ready in Mrągowo
In Mrągowo and the surrounding area I do makeup for brides in family homes and lakeside hotels, as well as in manor houses and country estates where the wedding reception often takes place too. Each of these places needs slightly different preparation:
- The family home. There is usually the most time and the least stress. Choose a room with a large window, away from the kitchen where the last preparations are going on.
- A hotel. Convenient when the guests are staying on site. Ask for a room with good daylight and let me know where I can park.
- A manor house or country estate. Atmospheric interiors can be darker, with small windows. Then we look for the brightest spot, sometimes on the veranda or by the patio doors.
The date, the trial and travel
Most weddings near Mrągowo take place in summer, and also in September, when it is still warm but quieter. Write to me as soon as you know your date. I book a bridal package date once we have agreed the terms and you have paid a deposit, which counts towards the price, and the cost of travel from Giżycko is included in your individual quote.
The makeup trial is included in the price of the bridal package. At the trial we agree on the look and the start time, and if the wedding is in a manor house with darker interiors, we also check the makeup in artificial light.
A photo session by Lake Czos
The boulevard by Lake Czos, the pier and the green lake shores are places that often appear in wedding photos from Mrągowo. The open space by the water gives plenty of soft light, in which natural makeup looks its best.
A few things worth remembering for a session by Lake Czos:
- it is often windy on the pier and by the shore, so hair and lashes need to be well set,
- on a sunny day the water reflects a lot of light, so a subtle glow on the cheeks is enough, without a strong highlighter,
- in summer the boulevard is a popular place for walks, so it is worth planning the session early in the morning or in the golden hour,
- in the evening mosquitoes appear by the water: apply repellent to your body, away from your face.
An outdoor wedding near Mrągowo
More and more couples choose an outdoor ceremony, for example in the garden of a manor house or in a meadow by the lake. Makeup for an outdoor wedding has to cope with harsh midday sun and cooler, damp air in the evening.
That is why I prepare the skin carefully, use thin layers of product, mattify the T-zone and set the makeup. We choose the lip colour so that it lasts and is comfortable all day. I describe this in detail in the article Bridal makeup in Masuria.
An autumn wedding by Lake Czos
September and October in Mrągowo bring beautiful light and colourful trees by the lake. Remember, though, that the days get shorter quickly: in mid-October the sun sets here at around 5:40 pm, and at the end of the month at around 4 pm. So we plan the outdoor session earlier than in summer.
An autumn backdrop goes well with warm makeup: browns and copper on the eyelids, a peach blush, and lips in a warm nude or a muted pink. The cooler, damp air by the water means the skin needs hydration and the makeup needs to be well set.
Makeup colours and the surroundings in photos
In outdoor photos the face is always surrounded by some colour: the green of the trees, the blue of the lake, the gold of autumn leaves or the white of a reception hall. I choose the makeup so that it works with that background:
- among greenery, warm shades of blush and lipstick look good and bring the complexion to life,
- by the water, in cool, bright light, glowing skin and slightly more defined eyes work well,
- with autumn leaves, browns, copper and terracotta shades fit beautifully,
- in a bright hall, the makeup should have clear definition, so that the face does not blend into the background and the white dress.

An evening at a manor house: fairy lights, candles and a bonfire
Weddings at manor houses and country estates near Mrągowo often move outdoors in the evening: under strings of light bulbs, by candlelight or around a bonfire. This warm, dim light looks beautiful, but it flattens the features and weakens colours.
That is why for manor house weddings I sculpt the face a little more, do not skip the blush and choose lips with slightly more depth than for a midday wedding. Evening dew and the chill mean the skin needs good hydration and the makeup needs setting. Remember the mosquitoes too: apply repellent to your body, away from your face, ideally before you put on your dress.
A sample preparation plan
For unhurried makeup, it is worth planning about an hour per person. An example for a 3 pm ceremony with preparations at a manor house near Mrągowo, with makeup for the mother of the bride and the bride:
